The Wildwood Pines Observatory is a roll-off roof observatory located in my backyard on a 2.3 acre treeless lot. The observatory is 800 feet (244 m) above sea level located 1/2 mile (300 m) north of the state line in Cleveland County, NC. I built the observatory over 12 weekends between November 2005 and February 2006.

The nearest cities are Shelby, NC, located 8 miles to the north and Gaffney, SC, located 10 miles to the southwest.
